TPA looks to get back on schedule after Christmas travel disruption: Airlines across the nation, including those in the Tampa Bay area, are looking to get back to normal after a Christmas disruption that left nearly 70 flights delayed at Tampa International Airport (TPA). Lines cleared quickly on Tuesday as travelers left Tampa after celebrating vacations in Florida. The next rush is expected on New Year’s Day. (wfla.com)
Bucs take down Jaguars 30-12 on Christmas Eve: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 30-12 on Sunday. It was the fourth victory in a row for the Bucs. The Bucs are now inching closer to winning the NFC South and will face the Saints next on Sunday, Dec. 31 at 1 p.m. (wtsp.com)
St. Pete approves funds toward affordable housing development: St. Petersburg City Council has approved $2.7 million towards a proposed affordable housing development called Bayou Court Apartments. The apartments will be located at 4201 6th Street South, if approved. Construction is planned for early next year with a planned completion by May 2025, according to St. Pete Rising. Tampa 5-star EDITION hotel hosting exclusive NYE 2024 gala: The Tampa EDITION, Tampa’s first 5-star hotel located in Water Street Tampa, is hosting a New Year's Eve on Sunday, Dec. 31 from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. Tickets cost $599 each and are on OpenTable. The NYE bash will have an open bar, food, champagne, and entertainment from Kool & the Gang. (cltampa.com)
Manatees moved from South Florida to Central Florida and Tampa: Three manatees have been successfully transported to ZooTampa and SeaWorld Orlando from Miami Seaqurium. The effort was done by several stakeholders including U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. ZooTampa invests over $1 million a year into manatee work and has provided care for over 500 manatees. Florida manatees have faced several difficult conditions in recent years due to red tide and other challenges. (ospreyobserver.com, wuft.org)
