Three of Florida’s most popular rooftop bars are “Raising the Roof” for Hurricanes Helene and Milton Relief at EDGE Rooftop Cocktail Lounge (Epicurean Hotel in Tampa); and Hi-Fi Rooftop Bar (Fenway Hotel in Dunedin) on Thursday, Oct. 17; and at Beacon Social Drinkery (Luminary Hotel & Co. in downtown Fort Myers) on Friday, Oct. 18 at. All three will be donating 50 percent of proceeds from the night to the American Red Cross Hurricane Helene & Milton Funds to support Florida communities impacted by the storms.

Cena has shuttered in Channelside: Cena, an award-winning Italian restaurant in Tampa, has shuttered in Channelside after a loss of customers after Hurricane Helene and the departure of Chef Michael Buttacavoli. Buttacavoli helps raised funds for charity during his tenure and even “Beat Bobby Flay” on Food Network during the near decade of business. Halloween on Central in St. Pete still moving forward as planned: Recent storms have impacted several events, but Halloween on Central is still moving forward as planned in Pinellas County. The festival is happening on Sunday, Oct. 27 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. and will span 22 blocks. Over 600 local businesses will attend. (stpeterising.com)
Blooming Floral Cafe has opened in Seminole Heights: A new small business has opened in Seminole Heights at 4408 N. Florida Ave. called Blooming Floral Cafe. The shop sells coffee, tea, pastries and fresh flowers. The owner is from Venezuela and has some unique menu items as well as the usual favorites including Pumpkin Spice flavors. (thatssotampa.com)
Man who allegedly abandoned dog during Milton faces felony charge, dozens of pets found lost: A man who allegedly left a dog tied to a pole during Hurricane Milton has been charged with aggravated animal cruelty charge, according to officials. The man is now facing a third-degree felony with up to five years in prison. The accused man said he couldn’t find anyone to take the dog while evacuating the storm and has relinquished ownership. Officials want increased criminal charges during emergencies. Over 76 pets were found by authorities lost during Milton. (wfla.com)
Residents in Brandon lose patience with county response after intense flooding from Milton: Hillsborough County residents living outside flood zones are demanding answers after intense flooding from Hurricane Milton has damaged homes. Residents living at Oak Ridge Drive said no timeline has been provided for when the water will be gone and are not living in a flood zone. Hillsborough officials said they cannot begin pumping operations until water levels drop. (wtsp.com)
