Florida Strawberry Festival starts next week in Plant City: Strawberry season is upon us and so is the Florida Strawberry Festival in Plant City. This year’s festival will run from Thursday, Feb. 29 to Sunday, March 10. Entry tickets to the festival are discounted online at $4 for kids ages 6 to 12 and $10 for adults when purchased online in advance. Guests can enjoy all kinds of food items made from the fruit including strawberry milkshakes, strawberry shortcakes, strawberry pizza and more. (wusf.org)
Don the Beachcomber tiki bar now open in Pinellas County: Don the Beachcomber, a growing tiki bar concept, has opened in Madeira Beach in Pinellas County at 15015 Madeira Way inside Cambria Hotel. Don the Beachcomber is widely credited with helping start the tiki cocktail movement and has a cult-like following. The food menu is a mixture of American and Polynesian-inspired food. Popular Central Florida Mexican concept adds new items to menu: Señor Tequila in Wesley Chapel at 1640 Bruce B. Downs Blvd. near SR-56 and the Shoppes at Wiregrass has added new menu items to the menu. New items include Elote corn, Ceviche, and Pollo Tapatio. Ukraine supporters rally outside Tampa City Hall as international support stalls: Dozens of supporters of Ukraine in its war against Russia gathered outside Tampa City Hall on Saturday to show support the country. The war is now in its third year. Ukraine is currently facing a precarious position with international aid and ammunition running out and the U.S. Congress at a standstill on the issue. Russia has made numerous advances on Ukraine in the past week. (abcactionnews.com)
Bolts defeat Islanders 4-2 on Saturday, face Devils today: The Tampa Bay Lightning enjoyed 4-2 victory against the New York Islanders on Saturday. Nikita Kucherov led with a goal and two assists for the Bolts. The Lightning will face off against the New Jersey Devils today at 1 p.m. at Prudential Center in Newark. (wfla.com)
