Tampa Fire Inspector and Union President suspended over alleged public intoxication: Tampa Fire Rescue has suspended Fire Inspector and Union President Nicholas Stocco after Stocco was allegedly arrested urinating in public while drunk at a parking garage in downtown St. Petersburg. Body camera footage from St. Pete Police captured the incident. The footage allegedly shows Stocco attempting to have officers let him go due to his position of power in Tampa, a trend that led to the resignation of Tampa’s previous police chief from office. Andrew Warren decides to run for job suspended by Gov. Ron DeSantis: Suspended State Attorney Andrew Warren, who Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis removed from office has decided to seek re-election against State Attorney Suzy Lopez. Lopez was not elected by voters, but installed by DeSantis into the position. Courts have previously ruled that DeSantis violated the law when he removed Warren from office, but also have declined to reinstate Hillsborough County prosecutor. New footage shows staff lighting bottles before fire at local restaurant in Tampa: Newly released footage shows staff preparing alcoholic bottles with sparklers led to a fire at Mamajuana Cafe in Tampa, according to a report from WTSP. The fire happened at the tiki hut at Mamajuana. Owner Miguel Guzman says the restaurant will rebuild. (wtsp.com)
Asian Pacific Islander Cultural Festival returns to downtown Tampa this May: The second annual Asian Pacific Islander Cultural Festival is coming Saturday, May 11 at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park in downtown Tampa from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The event is family-friendly and free to attend. Former Tropicana employee arrested after alleged shooting and kidnapping rampage: Police have arrested a man accused of shooting a co-worker at a Tropicana plant in Bradenton and kidnapping another co-worker after months on the run, according to multiple news reports. The man was arrested on Tuesday by police and is charged with aggravated battery with a firearm, armed kidnapping, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
