Pirate light show coming to Clearwater Marine Aquarium: Clearwater Marine Aquarium (CMA) is joining the Gasparilla spirit this month with "Lights by the Bay," an upcoming drone light show on Saturday, Jan. 13 with pirate-themed lights. Feds capture Jan. 6 Florida suspects on anniversary of violent D.C. protest: Several wanted fugitives hiding on a Florida ranch in Lake County from the Jan. 6 Insurrection on Capitol Hill were captured by the FBI on Saturday morning. The suspects captured include Jonathan Daniel Pollock, Olivia Michele Pollock, and Joseph Daniel Hutchinson III. The suspects appear in federal court on Monday, Jan. 8 in Ocala. Over 1,200 defendants have been charged in the trials. (nbcnews.com)
Tampa Tunes nonprofit seeks to bring pianos around Tampa Bay: A new nonprofit organization called Tampa Tunes wants to place pianos around Tampa Bay. The first piano can be found on 7th Avenue outside 1920 Ybor. The nonprofit intentionally chose Ybor as the starting point for the program. (abcactionnews.com)
Yuengling Draft Haus bringing creative food and classic beer to Uptown Tampa: Yuengling Draft Haus near the University area is serving up iconic beer as well as delicious food. The new 42,000 sq. ft. building and 1.5 acre outdoor patio area is part of Tampa Innovation, which aims to improve area and rebrand it as “Uptown Tampa” by pushing for new business and innovation in the area. The menu is curated by executive chef Sean Eckman who previously worked at The Inn on Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC. (neighborhoodnewsonline.net)
St. Pete Beach faces new lawsuit from citizens over election process: Turmoil continues over local elections as St. Pete Beach faces a lawsuit from citizens for allegedly failing to have a special election after several city council members resigned over a new law that takes a deep look at the finances and donations backing political candidates. Citizens said leaders are allegedly “bypassing the democratic process.” (tampabay.com)
