Art and music fest coming to Tampa Heights this weekend: The XOXO Art & Music Fest is coming to Armature Works in Tampa Heights at 1910 N Ola Ave. this weekend from March 14 to March 17, just in time for spring break. Tickets are now available to a number of concerts happening over the three days and to access carnival rides, art, and food. Music acts include DJ Pauly D, Two Friends, Sommer Ray and Dillon Francis. Tropicana Field named one of the worst baseball fields in the country: Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, home of the Tampa Bay Rays, has been ranked the second worst baseball field in the United States by USA Today. The ranking should not come as a surprise to anyone who has overheard the drama for over a decade on what to do with the aging stadium. There is a plan to replace the stadium with $600 million in funding coming from taxpayers. (wtsp.com, usatoday.com)
Free Easter egg hunts coming to Hillsborough County this month: Hillsborough County Parks & Recreation is hosting a number of Easter egg hunts over the next few weeks starting on March 16 through March 30. Community egg hunts are happening at Progress Village Park, Balm Park Recreation, Mango Recreation Center and more. The events are free to attend and family-friendly. (wfla.com)
Enjoy Afro-Cuban food at Soul de Cuba Café in Tampa’s Seminole Heights: Looking to try Afro-Cuban food? Check out Soul de Cuba Café located at 6428 N. Florida Ave. in Tampa. Menu items include a classic Cubano, Lechon Asado, Crab Shalah, Mojitos and Cafe con Leche. Marinades are available for sale at the restaurant and online. The owners of the cafe generously shared a recipe with Spectrum Bay News 9 for Soul de Cuba Cafe Mojo Marinated Lechon Asado. City of Tampa Mayor Jane Castor will be present on Wednesday, March 20 at 5:30 p.m. at the restaurant for a ribbon cutting celebration. (baynews9.com)
Feeding Tampa Bay completes construction on new HQ and distribution hub: Nonprofit Feeding Tampa Bay has completed construction on its new headquarters and distribution building in Tampa at 4000 Causeway Blvd, according to Business Observer. The nonprofit claims the new building will reduce the cost of providing meals by up to 25 percent and help its mission to fight food insecurity. (businessobserverfl.com, feedingtampabay.org)
